MoMA & Dada

World War I and Dada

  • Dada is a type of art movement influenced by World War I. Artist were not trying to impress they wanted to discuss. The ideals of Dada art came about form activities form small groups of artists and poets in Zurich. They wanted an alternate vision on the world.

Marcel Duchamp and the Readymade

  • The readymades defined the notion that art must be beautiful.  Duchamp used everyday objects to show a visual indifference. Duchamp paved the way for conceptional art.
  • This changes my expectations about what art can be because you have to put into consideration that DADA is art because someone had to put it together or just invent

Chance Creations: Collage, Photomontage, and Assemblage

  •  Dada artists embraced chance, accident, and improvisation. Such forces figured prominently in their creation of collages assemblages, and photomontage—and subverted elements that had long defined artistic practice, like craft, control, and intentionality.
  • It was a form of personal protest and a tool for critiquing the increasingly mechanized, violent world in which they lived

Artist Collaboration
  • art lay not in the work produced, but in the act of making and collaborating with others to create new visions of the world.
Word Play
  • They used poetry and literature; turning words and letters into abstract form and stripping form

Social Issue PSA

  • My social issue is women in the military;and that females are excepted the military.
  • there is a personal connection to this because my sister is in the military and want to make known the girls can do it too!
  • I hope to get the word out that it shouldn't matter on the gender that men and women who both serve for their country both make the same sacrifice.
  • Women who want to go into the military they know they are excepted. Also people in the US who think men are the only ones who can be US soldiers
  • EVEN A GIRL CAN DO IT!

  1.  I really like the end result and I'm excited to show my family and my sister these ads!
  2. Some tips i would give to someone who does this project would be do a topic you yourself is interested in so doing this project will be fun! Doing something your passionate about also makes your work a whole lot better too.
  3. The most challenging aspect of this assignment for me would probably have to be the text, where to place it what to say and what font to use to make the ad more interesting. The thing i thought i did well was overlaying photos in my project and keeping the unity between the two ads.

These pictures are from different times so its like a story of my sisters experience in the military. The bottom middle picture is the top four people in her graduation class and they are all women which shows women can be in the military. I really enjoyed taking all of these picture because they are all memorable and emotion times. When I was able to see my sister for the first time in awhile was a special and emotional time. I like all of these picture! they are very meaningful to me and my family

Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook

Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook
  • Too much text: With too much text people will not read it. With a short amount of text people can easily read it and understand the issue that the poster is expressing.
  • Poorly placed action: You want to make the action known so make sure its in a good spot
  • Boring text: With boring text the readers and viewers will not be interested in your work and wont really care about the ad itself either.
  • Bad picture: Make the picture specific to the item or issue you are advertising and try not to have distractions in the photo that does relate to the item or issue you are advertising
  • No logo: With no logo people wont know who the company is and in order to make a mark in the viewers eyes its better to have a logo for your company
  • Authenticity: People like pop culture so make your ads related to the popular things in America
  • Catchy text: With a catchy text people will remember your slogan or even company because of how catchy it is. This could lead to clients later in life
